Creating the Perfect Burn
A well-made candle is designed to bring warmth and atmosphere into your space. With a few simple care steps, you can ensure your candle burns evenly, safely, and beautifully.
Proper candle care helps maximise the life of your candle while maintaining a clean and steady flame.
1. Allow a Full Melt Pool on the First Burn
The first burn is the most important. Allow the candle to burn until the entire surface of the wax has melted evenly from edge to edge.
This helps prevent tunnelling and ensures the candle continues to burn evenly for future use.
Depending on the candle size, this usually takes 2–3 hours.
2. Keep the Wood Wick Short
Before each burn, ensure the wood wick is trimmed to approximately 3–5 mm.
A shorter wick helps create a steady flame and prevents excess smoke. If the wick becomes charred after burning, gently remove the burnt portion before relighting.
3. Re-Centre the Wick if Needed
After extinguishing the flame, check that the wick remains centred in the vessel.
If necessary, gently reposition the wick while the wax is still soft. This helps the candle burn evenly and prevents the flame from leaning toward the glass.
4. Burn in Calm Spaces
Wood wick candles burn best in areas without strong drafts. Air movement can affect the flame and cause uneven burning.
Place your candle on a stable, heat-safe surface away from open windows or strong airflow.
A Simple Ritual of Calm
Lighting a candle is a moment to slow down — a small ritual that brings warmth and atmosphere into everyday life.
With proper care, your wood wick candle will continue to burn beautifully, filling your space with soft light, gentle fragrance, and the comforting crackle of the flame.
